In January 2020, Andy Lovingood was named President of McGill. He has over 30 years of consulting engineering experience and has been the guiding force behind some of McGill’s most noteworthy projects. Andy is recognized as a strong communicator and acknowledged for his extensive technical engineering, management, and operations expertise in public infrastructure, which has proven invaluable to our clients. Prior to being appointed President, Andy served as Vice President at McGill, providing leadership to the core services and all nine offices of the firm. He began his career in public service as the Director of Engineering for the City of Concord, North Carolina, helping to define the infrastructure and development pathway for Concord to become the tenth most populous city in North Carolina.

Danny Bridges has served McGill in multiple capacities throughout his 36-year tenure with the firm. He began his career as an Engineering Associate and advanced to Project Engineer, Client and Senior Manager, and Asheville Office Manager. He currently serves as the Virginia Regional Manager, Williamsburg Office Manager, and is one of the firm’s Vice Presidents. Danny is driven by building relationships with clients and has earned a reputation of professional integrity and accountability.

Mark Cathey has more than 28 years of design and management experience in civil and environmental engineering. He joined McGill as an Engineering Associate and is now Vice President and Regional Office Manager, where he oversees the operations of McGill’s largest office. Mark strives for perfection and consistently provides excellent service. His reputation for meeting clients’ needs in a timely and cost-efficient manner precedes him. Furthermore, Mark goes above and beyond to successfully execute solutions that are both innovative and sustainable, as evidenced by his work on numerous LEED-certified projects.

As Vice President and Regional Manager, he is responsible for the central region of North Carolina.

Michael Hanson has extensive technical knowledge and maintains an awareness of the latest innovations in water resource solutions. With over 32 years of experience, he has supported a wide array of enterprise fund and stormwater program needs. Among his areas of expertise are watershed assessments, stormwater master planning, design of drainage infrastructure, wetland creation, stream restoration, floodplain management, and water quality modeling. Leading a team of dedicated water resources professionals, Michael supports projects across all offices and disciplines. He resides as the Regional Manager over McGill’s Eastern North Carolina offices, including Pinehurst, Raleigh, Shallotte, and Smithfield.

Joel Storrow’s wealth of experience extends across many disciplines, including engineering design, project management, and corporate management. In January 2020, Joel transitioned into a new role at McGill, after serving as President of the firm for 18 years. During his tenure as President, Joel extended the firm’s footprint in the Southeast to include nine offices and expanded the core program of services. Joel applies his 33 years of experience and industry knowledge in his new role, focusing on client relationships and business development in both Western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee. He understands the value of service to McGill’s clients and strives to provide viable, cost-effective, and realistic solutions through innovative thinking and problem solving.

Since joining McGill in 2017, the marketing team has completed a rebranding initiative, restructured the proposal process, and implemented a CRM system.

Mike Dowd has always been math- and science-oriented, with an affinity for problem solving. With 27 years in the profession (and 25 with McGill), he has worked on projects spanning the spectrum – from linear distribution projects to complex multimillion-dollar infrastructure expansion. As the water / wastewater practice area leader, Mike keeps the team organized, focused, and on budget and schedule. He works closely with various teams across McGill offices to ensure efficient facilitation of water / wastewater projects. Mike is a clear communicator and an excellent go-between for funding agencies and clients.

His experience as an Environmental Health Specialist allows him to expertly guide clients through complex residential and commercial septic and well-permitting processes, ensuring regulatory compliance and environmental stewardship. Specializing in aquatic resource field reconnaissance, data collection, and comprehensive report writing, Jon delivers insights and solutions that support responsible development and environmental health.

Christyn Fertenbaugh, PE has 13 years of experience with water and wastewater permitting and compliance; funding programs for water, wastewater, and stormwater administered through the Division of Water Infrastructure (DWI); and communicating dynamically with people at all levels of the technical spectrum. Christyn is passionate about protecting the environment by helping water and wastewater systems meet regulations and improve their infrastructure. With her background in engineering, she uses that knowledge and enthusiasm to contribute to the grant administration process.

He is skilled at working with multiple moving pieces in a project, but doing so in a manner that does not disrupt service to our clients and that results in successful projects.

RJ Mozeley oversees McGill’s financial services team. This team researches funding opportunities through many different agencies seeking to pair our clients’ projects with the best funding available. RJ and the financial services team also assist communities in applying for funding, and administer various grants from state and federal programs. He is certified to provide all environmental documentation to North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ) for Community Development Block Grant-Infrastructure (CDBG-I) funded projects.

Chad Howard has worked in the surveying field for over 28 years. During this time, he has managed over $20,000,000 worth of successful land surveying and subsurface utility engineering (SUE) projects. In his role, Chad has been responsible for project estimating, contract negotiation, billing, client relations, quality control and quality assurance (QA / QC), computing and adjusting boundary problems, and drafting and reviewing finalized plats. As a result of his hard work, he has received 13 awards from the North Carolina Society of Surveyors Annual Statewide Plat Contest produced by the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS), including first place in the Boundary Survey Category of the annual NSPS nationwide plat contest. His hard work and dedication to his field is evident in the work ethic and enthusiasm he demonstrates with his team members and clients.

Since joining McGill as an engineering technician back in 2002, Mike Patton has worked his way up to the position of construction services practice area leader. This steady career growth, and long history with the firm has given him a unique vantage point from which to oversee the department. Mike’s current role entails directing field operations, preparing contract documents, chairing various project meetings, processing applications for payment, reviewing shop drawings, and negotiating change orders. He is driven by the desire to assist members of his team in successfully wrapping up projects that they have spent a significant amount of time and effort on.

Forrest Westall has extensive experience in water quality management and has helped develop and administer many North Carolina Water Quality programs. He has a high level of understanding of the laws, regulations, and processes that guide the agencies that manage surface water across the state of North Carolina. Forrest is skilled at guiding and coordinating the environmental review and permitting processes from start to finish. He has successfully worked on many water quality and permitting projects and is familiar with the procedures to make regulatory decisions. Forrest was formerly the manager of water quality programs administered by the NC Department of Environmental Quality in the Asheville regional office. He has served as a member of the NC Environmental Management Commission and as an advisor to many organizations, local governments, and private companies. Through McGill, Forrest serves as the Executive Director of the Upper Neuse River Basin Association.
