Parks, Recreation, and Greenways
Our team of planning professionals is passionate about recreational design. They understand that community parks, greenways and trails are the lifeblood of many of our communities, connecting land, rivers and ultimately people in the places where they work and live. We strive to create sustainable and functional designs for recreation purposes that promote the holistic development and overall well-being of the individual user as well as the broader community. We work collaboratively with our clients to develop a vision for their community that promotes active and healthy lifestyles through integration of the built environment with the natural environment. Our designs start with a foundational understanding of current assets, usage, linkages, natural resources, and transportation patterns. This basis is then coupled with collaborative community and stakeholder input on short and long terms goals and objectives. Through this process we consistently produce unique, purposeful and implementable holistic solutions that meet a broad range of objectives.
CLIENT: Brunswick County
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: McGill Associates developed the Town Creek Park Master Plan and construction documents for the redevelopment of the park. The plan includes a variety of new amenities, such as baseball / softball complex, soccer / multipurpose fields, dog park, walking trails, while also renovating other facilities including basketball courts, tennis courts, picnic areas, parking lots, and a playground. Improvements also include restroom/concession buildings, and expanded parking opportunities. The plan highlights accessibility for all patrons and connectivity to nearby schools. McGill Associates assisted the County with applying for the PARTF grant to help fund the implementation of the master plan, on which McGill Associates also designed and provided construction administration.
