McGill’s Knoxville Office Provides CEI Services for the Historic Niota Train Depot

Historic Train Depot Houses City Hall

McGill’s Knoxville office is providing construction engineering and inspection (CEI) services to the City of Niota during the restoration of the 163-year-old Niota Train Depot, the oldest train depot in Tennessee and home to Niota City Hall. The train depot is currently undergoing repairs and renovations after receiving $378,000 in funding from the Tennessee Department of Transportation enhancement grant; McMinn County will fund a 20-percent local match.

Withstanding both the Civil War and a wrecking ball, the train depot was listed in 2015 as one of the top most endangered sites by the Tennessee Preservation Trust.
